How to use Nga Kiwai Kete

Nga Kiwai Kete is designed to be used in the context of face-to-face interaction and support. The website provides useful links for e-learning development, but is not designed as a stand-alone set of online resources.

It assumes the involvement of real people to mentor e-learning capacity building. These people may be staff developers in Tertiary Education Organisations who choose to use Nga Kiwai Kete resources. Or they may be consultants working alongside teaching staff, helping to develop capability in e-learning.

The online resources are structured within five kete, each providing a different perspective on enhancing e-learning capability:

Introducing e-Learning
A toolkit to introduce staff in small education organisations to some basic ideas about e-learning.

Planning e-Learning
A toolkit for managers responsible for planning and decision-making for e-Learning

Designing e-Learning
A toolkit for educational designers responsible for designing and developing e-Learning experiences

Teaching online
A toolkit for lecturers and tutors for developing teaching and facilitation skills for e-Learning

Supporting e-Learners and Teachers
A toolkit for staff responsible for supporting teachers and learners working in a flexible learning environment

To provide an insight into how e-learning can be used to advantage, the stories and experiences of people at various stages of e-learning development are told by the participants themselves. Contributions from several tertiary providers can be found integrated within the website. In addition, an imaginary education provider, Niu Sila Training is used to illustrate key aspects of e-learning development.
